Karen silver is 95% to 99.9% silver handmade by Karen Hill Tribe of northern Thailand (Chiang Mai). This means that this is a higher silver content than sterling. Every crafted piece is unique and is not likely to be hallmarked therefore buyers must always source from established sellers who know credible suppliers
 

There are two main Karen groups in Thailand are the Sgaw and Pwo Karen making up the Karen Hill Tribe People. These ethnic groups commonly known as 'hill tribes'  have been living in Northern Thailand for centuries. The largest of 'hill tribes' is the Karen hill tribe, many of whom still live in the more remote mountainous areas, west of Chiang Mai. Many of them are subsistence farmers who live in a balance with nature and the forests.
